RAISE - (raise) is the need of the hour to mitigate the three challenges i.e. to reduce indoor pollutants, control pathogens and to enhance and maintain indoor air quality (IAQ) in centrally air conditioned buildings . IAQ can be improved by using various filters and putting in place a monitoring system, pathogen spread can be controlled using UV filters and HEPA filters, among others. All this can be retrofitted in the existing HVAC system, whose energy efficiency can be improved by upgrading the existing chillers, AHUs and use of VFD motors to name a few. This will not only treat the air inside a building but also reduce the need for fresh air intake.
